“To This Day”
“If you can’t find anything beautiful about yourself, get a better mirror, look a little closer, stare a little longer”
Recently our class watched “To This Day” by the Canadian poet Shane Koyczan. It’s the most powerful poem that I’ve ever heard, and it’s about bullying.
When I lived in the Philippines I was always with my friend who struggled all day, morning, recess, lunch and after school.
She cry everyday and I’m the one who is making her feel better, she is really upset about that.
I also called someone names in Grade 4: dummy, giraffe and more.
And somebody actually called me names that’s the time I changed It does really hurt my feelings.
What Shane Koyczan is talking about in the poem is that everyday is not your horrible life
Everyday is not your worst day ever. You still smile.
Do you cry everyday? No.
So don’t think that your life is horrible.
What I learned is that believe in yourself and never give up.
